センター英語試験問題をざっと流し読みしていて気づいたが、日本の英語教育では、ピリオドのあとスペースは二つ、と決まっているのだろうか。ピリオドあとのスペース数はネイティブでもまちまちだし、どちらかが絶対的に正しいというわけではないように思う。つまるところ、これは美学的な問題だろう。しかし昨今のトレンドはスペースひとつではないか。MLAもChicago Manualもワンスペース派だ。それにしてもChicago ManualのQ&Aが面白い。
