I learned a great deal from the grad conference these two days, though in a deeply selfish way. I mean, I stopped listening to the presentations at some point and concentrated on observing explosions of my own thinking ignited by some ideas and phrases I just heard. The keynote lecture today was extremely fruitful in this respect: I remember almost nothing about what she said, but here's a handwritten manuscript of nearly ten pages that contain inchoate research questions, primitive hypotheses, quick charts, possible directions, and so on. I'll definitely translate these fragmentary notes into full sentences in a few days. For the moment, I just want to know what to do with this intense headache.
