うろたどな

"These fragments I have shored against my ruins."

「夜の孤独にほのかな自由を感じる」

"There is a distinct sense of freedom in the solitude of the night" (Berkman, Alexander. Prison Memoirs of an Anarchist). It's very weird that I am translating an English text written by a Russian immigrant in California. Delving into the text, I frequently feel that I totally get lost, not knowing where I am or who I am. I guess translation becomes difficult when you're living in a place where your native language is not being spoken. Anyway, in translating his autobiographical prison memoirs into Japanese, I cannot but be struck by Berkman's mastery of English, which I'm afraid I couldn't attain forever.
