the more i teach, the more convinced i become that there is little relevance b/w the superficial fluency and the inner deep thinking. indeed it's often esl students who barely speak up in classes but write extremely provocative and stimulating papers. i don't mean that speaking is nothing. how can i make such an argument when i'm struggling, even today, to express myself in english? but, i don't know whether the oral-centric education is really beneficial in a long term...
