学生のレポートを読みながら

Reading students' papers, I finally realized that I wanted to teach them Barthes' structural analysis of the narrative, Jameson's notion of the subtext that is something unfolded from within the text, in contradistinction to the context that is supposed to exist outside of the text, and Foucault's analysis of discourse formation which primary step is to grasp the minimal unit of analysis which can be demarcated only by taking into account the play of relations, of intra- and inter-relations. The question is, of course, whether I'm capable of doing this extremely difficult job without using technical terms...
